The following is about ASTM A475 Zinc Coated Steel Wire Strand related, I hope to help you better understand ASTM A475 Zinc Coated Steel Wire Strand.

ASTM A475 Zinc Coated Steel Wire Strand

1 Scope
1.1 This standard applies to five grades of galvanized steel strands used for lanyards, slings, erection wires and similar purposes composed of round steel wires in four galvanized weight groups.
1.2 The five levels are as follows:
1.2.1 General level;
1.2.2 Normal level
1.2.3 Open hearth level;
1.2.4 High intensity level;
1.2.5 Ultra-high strength level.
 1.2.6 For the minimum breaking load of each grade of steel strand, see Article 8.
1.3 The 4 weight groups of the zinc layer are: Type 1 and Grade A, Grade B and Grade C. See Article 12 for the minimum weight of the zinc layer.
14 The valueexpressed in the hour-pound unit system are standard values, and the values in parentheses are for reference only.
2 reference standards
2.1 American Society for Testing and Materials Standards
A90 Zinc or zinc alloy coating steel product coating weight (mass) test method  A902 terminology for steel metal coatingB6 zinc ingot
3 terms
3.1 Definition of proper nouns used in this standard refer to A902
3.2 Description of special terms in this standard:
3.2.1 Stranded wire-the expression method of finished steel stranded wire is: the nominal diameter of the stranded wire, the number of steel wires in the stranded wire, the minimum breaking load of the stranded wire (see 8), and the coating type or group (see 12 ).
4 Order content 00
4.1 Orders supplied according to this standard shall include the following:
4.1.1 The number of twisted wires, measured by feet;
4.1.2 Nominal diameter of stranded wire, number of steel wires, grade and minimum breaking load of stranded wire (Article 8 and Table 1);
4.1.3 Zinc layer weight (type and group) (Article 12 and Table 4);
4.1.4 Length of coil or spool stranded wire (Article 19).
5Materials and manufacturing
5.1 The base metal should be steel smelted by open hearth furnace, oxygen top-blown converter or electric furnace. The quality and purity of the steel should be able to ensure that when the steel wire is drawn to the specified size and galvanized, the quality of the finished strand and monofilament should be uniform and have the performance and characteristics specified in this standard.
5.2 The zinc ingot used for galvanizing should meet any level specified in standard B6.
6 twist
6.1 Unless otherwise specified, the twisted wire shall be left twisted. Left twist is defined as twisting in a counterclockwise direction relative to the observer. All steel wires should be twisted with uniform tension. The twist should be tight enough to ensure that the diameter will not be significantly reduced when a tension of 10% of the minimum breaking load is applied.
6.2 The 1×3 stranded wire shall be composed of 3 steel wires twisted concentrically, and have a uniform lay length not less than 14 times the nominal diameter of the stranded wire and not more than 20 times.
6.3 1×7 stranded wire should be composed of 6 steel wires concentrically twisted around a central wire, and have a uniform lay length not greater than 16 times the nominal diameter of the stranded wire.
6.4 1×19 stranded wire shall consist of 6 inner steel wires and 12 outer steel wires concentrically twisted around a central steel wire. The 6 steel wires shall be twisted right-handed and shall have a nominal diameter of no larger than the 7 steel wires. Times the uniform lay length. The nominal diameter of the 7 steel wire cores should be 3 times the nominal diameter of the steel wire. The 12 wires in the outer layer are left-twisted and should be concentrically twisted around 7 wire cores, and have a uniform lay length not greater than 16 times the nominal diameter of the stranded wire.The 6.51×37 strand shall be composed of 6 inner steel wires, 12 intermediate steel wires and 18 outer steel wires concentrically twisted around a central steel wire. The 6 steel wires are left-twisted and have no more than 7 wires. A uniform lay length of 16 times the nominal diameter of the steel wire core. The nominal diameter of the 7 steel wire cores should be 3 times the nominal diameter of the steel wire. The 12 middle-layer steel wires are twisted right-handed and concentrically twisted around 7 steel wire cores, and have a uniform lay length not greater than 16 times the nominal diameter of the 19 steel wire cores. The nominal diameter of the 19 steel wire cores should be 5 of the nominal diameter of the steel wire. The 18 outer steel wires are left-twisted and concentrically twisted around the 19 steel wire cores, and have a uniform lay length no greater than 16 times the nominal diameter of the stranded wire.
6.6 All the steel wires in the stranded wire should naturally be in the correct position in the finished steel strand. When the stranded wire is cut, the wire at the broken end should be kept in place or the wire can be easily reset by hand to keep it in place. In situ. It can be achieved by various methods or processes, such as pre-deformation, post-deformation or forming and fixing.
